Trust secures virtual library access for all

We are always looking for ways to promote reading for pleasure across school and whilst we are not looking to scale back on physical books in any way, we are delighted to announce that Broadleaf Partnership Trust has subscribed to SORA eBooks library for all staff and pupils to access.

SORA has a catalogue of thousands of eBooks including popular titles, non-fiction texts and magazines and comics along with a wide selection of audio books.  There is a vast range of texts from picture books suitable for the early years right up to longer, chapter books suitable for upper primary pupils.

Children can ‘borrow’ books in the same way as they would in a typical library and adjust the font size, change the background lighting (great for reading before bed!), and even switch to a special “Open Dyslexic” font that makes reading easier for students with dyslexia. They can also earn virtual badges for milestones like reading a certain number of books or trying out new genres and all books read can be used towards the children’ s reading challenges. SORA can be used on Chromebooks and also downloaded as an app on iPad/tablets and phones.

How to Get Started Today

Getting set up is quick and incredibly easy:

  1. Download the App: Search for “Sora, by OverDrive” in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. You can also access it on a computer at soraapp.com.
  2. Find Our School: Use the setup wizard to search for our school’s name.
  3. Log In: Students just need to log in using their google school username and password.
  4. Start Browsing! Tap the “Explore” tab to search for specific titles, browse by genre, or check out our librarian’s curated recommendations.

We hope you enjoy SORA and as always, would welcome any feedback on reading for pleasure strategies that we promote in school.
